I'm sure Chrome does it too, but ignorance is bliss, and there is no way I would say ok to it.Maybe Microsoft is more transparent by making it a short, literally in-your-face question.or maybe they're just creepers. Edge also freaks me out when it asks if it can send my pictures to Microsoft to better research relevant ad suggestions and whatnot. In these instances, nothing short of a hard power button reset got my pc operating again once the lag completely took over.Įdge always sucks as a browser, always way slower than Chrome with a lot of extra junk going on it seems like, and Firefox isn't well supported anymore. Seemingly at random.but I suspect there was a background update process actually taking place, even if I told my pc to pause updates or utilize very little bandwidth to do so, or if I told it to only update during off hours, and finally even if I told it to only download on metered connection. Sometimes Chrome browser RAM usage would EXPLODE! It would go from a normal experience to just suck the performance out of my pc. It was Windows OS that had become completely corrupted, and I suspect had been doing poorly for a while leading up to the crash.Ī few major issues I noticed in months leading up to crash.ġ. HDD was ok (thank GOD! hadn't done a backup in ages.stupid of me, I know). So I took it in to a pc repair guy who had tools and resources to test my system and repair. I don't have the tools to check my harddrive's well-being on a completely non-functional system (would boot up to blue system repair screen and no further would not successfully boot up after Automatic Repair, etc). I thought my HDD was capoot and panicked. The crash occurred while my pc was trying to update to the Version 2004 20H2 Windows 10 update. Always before the required update from Microsoft for Windows 10, ironically. 100% disk usage showing as 1.0 mbs like previous screenshot in Task Manager, etc. My pc recently crashed and would not work BEFORE I installed Google Drive.

Will say too that I am still on an HDD in part because SDD, while quicker, are perhaps less reliable in the long run (may crap out faster) due to nature of Flash memory utilization vs the old style of HDD.I'm still researching, but that's a supposed opinion/fact I've come across in the meantime. There is a mention of this being a read/write hdd speed issue and background resource usage. I am having the same problem and read all the comments.

So, I'm going to conspiracy theorize here a bit.
